Decathlon Sports India has relocated its flagship Chennai store from Anna Salai to Pondy Bazaar, one of the city’s busiest commercial districts. Spanning 24,000 square feet, the new outlet is now amongst the largest Decathlon stores in Tamil Nadu.

“We’re excited to begin this new chapter in the heart of Chennai’s retail district,” said Decathlon Sports India’s business development director and legal referent Rahul Phukan, Indian Retailer Bureau reported. “Our Anna Salai journey has been incredibly fulfilling, and we carry that same energy and spirit into Pondy Bazaar- with more space, more products, and more services.”
The move forms part of the brand’s strategy to increase accessibility and strengthen its presence in high-footfall urban areas across South India. By repositioning in a central retail zone, Decathlon aims to reach a broader customer base while enhancing in-store experience and service capabilities.
The Pondy Bazaar outlet offers an expanded selection across categories including fitness, cycling, football, and trekking. It also features added services such as racket stringing, custom t-shirt printing, and quick delivery for essentials.
The store has been designed to serve both athletes and everyday users, with support for beginners and professionals alike. Decathlon currently operates over 100 outlets in India and continues to invest in large-format stores located in key retail zones.
